Shou Ta Yi Bing "A Tale of Love and Loyalty"

 Chapter 6:

Troublesome

Xiao Yuan had indeed changed, Pei Qing thought. Though he had always been unrestrained and unruly, he was never a vulgar person.

But now, as he leaned in close to her, his heated breath enveloped her, and his hand gripped her face, recklessly touching her smooth, fair skin.

"Is it true that you can do anything for that little bastard and the sickly man?"

She had clearly stated in her letter that he was deliberately using such offensive language against her.

"Ji'er is my son, not some bastard. His Majesty is the Emperor, and also your own cousin. I hope Your Highness will show some mercy."

"Heh, your son," Xiao Yuan said, looking at her slightly displeased expression. "You’re so capable, having given birth to a son who’s nearly five years old in less than a year since entering the palace."

He glanced at her slender waist and mockingly asked, "Why don’t you give me a five-year-old son as well? I don’t like the crying and noise of infants, so having a five-year-old would save me from these troubles."

Pei Qing looked at him and thought that perhaps he hadn’t changed but had gone mad.

"As for your sickly husband," the man’s fingers traced her lips, "I’m quite curious. With his illness, how many times can he bed you? Or is it you who always attends to him?"

Pei Qing could not tolerate others disparaging Xiao Jing.

Yet he insisted on asking her such difficult questions.

"Is he well-endowed?"

Pei Qing lowered her gaze and remained silent, prompting Xiao Yuan to say, "If you don’t speak, I’ll personally measure it myself. Do you think he’d still be considered an emperor if he lost that part?"

Pei Qing felt that he might actually do it and reluctantly responded with a vague answer, "It’s quite big."

"Quite big? How big? Show me with your hand."

Pei Qing looked at him again and roughly gestured with her hand. Though she had never seen it in reality, she thought it would be accurate enough compared to illustrations.

Unexpectedly, Xiao Yuan sneered, "Tsk."

Pei Qing didn’t understand what he was laughing about, only to hear him ask an even more difficult question, "How long does he last?"

Pei Qing hesitated. Is it better if he lasts long or short? What is considered a long time?

She steeled herself and answered, "Quite a long time."

As expected, he pressed further, "How long exactly?"

Pei Qing couldn’t come up with an answer and had to make an excuse, "I’ve forgotten."

Xiao Yuan stared at her for a while and suddenly laughed, "Your Majesty, you can lie without changing your expression now. You can forget such things? Do you think I’m a three-year-old child?"

"Your Highness, this is a private matter between husband and wife. Not discussing it... is also reasonable, isn’t it?" She spoke gently, trying to reason with him.

"Oh, private matters between husband and wife." Xiao Yuan straightened up and looked down at her from above. "If he knew you were serving another man, would he still want to be your husband?"

Pei Qing understood what he meant by "serving." Compared to life and death, her own purity and reputation really didn’t matter much. But she was also the Empress and Xiao Jing's nominal wife; she couldn’t do anything that would damage his dignity.

So she gently and tactfully pleaded with the man before her, "Can you... wait a moment?"

Xiao Yuan did not respond.

Pei Qing hesitated, lightly tugged at the corner of his garment, and knelt on the ground, looking up to beg him, "I can’t right now..."

"Is Your Majesty trying to bargain with me?"

Pei Qing shook her head but couldn’t find the words to say. She had been hasty in her letter, agreeing to too much. She had promised that as long as he came, she would be willing to pay any price.

But upon closer thought, what does she really have?

Just some gold and silver trinkets given by her brother-in-law—things that are hardly worth his attention. But she still has her life. She understands his disdain and hatred; if killing her would ease his anger, he would likely be willing to do it.

As for serving him... Pei Qing thought he wouldn’t be interested. Such a proud man wouldn’t deign to touch a woman who is already married.

Xiao Yuan looked down at the woman at his feet, pitiable and charming, truly capable of stirring a man's desires. No wonder that sickly man married the elder and wanted the younger as well, claiming both sisters for himself.

But now, the Empress of Xiao Jing was trying to please him, Xiao Yuan.

Thinking this, he suddenly grasped her wrist and pulled her up, throwing her onto the bed. Pei Qing’s surprised expression was indeed so vivid and stunning.

As a man, Xiao Yuan naturally developed malicious intentions.

Her carefully styled long hair fell out, a few strands sticking to Pei Qing’s face as if sharing her confusion.

She looked at Xiao Yuan with some fear.

And he said only one word.

"Strip."
