Rebirth of the Charming Girl in Space

 Chapter 284:

 Only Half

Helian Rongjiu was taken aback. He had never seen Murong Lingran look at him like that. He raised an eyebrow and said, "Little girl, are you plotting against me?"

Murong Lingran, infuriated by his ambiguous words, was on the verge of jumping up but dared not provoke him. Instead, she begrudgingly explained the actions of the Zuo brothers.

Helian Rongjiu abruptly closed his folding fan, recalling the legal consequences for robbery. It seemed that if the severity of the case was low, one might be imprisoned for a few months and then released.

Ze Yuan and Ze Qu escorted these three into custody without causing additional trouble or revealing their identities.

However, once released, they resumed their wrongdoings. It seemed that a few months of imprisonment had failed to discipline them and, instead, fueled their arrogance.

Helian Rongjiu whispered something to Wei Jingxuan, who nodded occasionally.

Murong Lingran, witnessing two grown men whispering and occasionally nodding under the broad daylight, had a sudden flash of thought that made her shiver. No, it couldn't be possible.

Just when she found it unbearable, Helian Rongjiu suddenly looked at her and said, "Why not let me take care of these people for you?"

Murong Lingran raised an eyebrow, "I couldn't ask for more, but... they won't end up like last time, released without proper punishment, right?"

Helian Rongjiu hesitated, gritting his teeth, "You can rest assured; I won't give them the chance for revenge."

"Alright, then."

Although Murong Lingran sounded trusting but, Helian Rongjiu felt that she didn't believe him at all. He felt a bit frustrated, "Jingxuan, they're in your hands."

"Yes, Ninth Brother."

Wei Jingxuan gestured behind him, and the four of them approached the Zuo brothers.

Seeing the people who had caught them last time standing nearby, the Zuo brothers knew there was no room for negotiation. Their hearts sank, realizing that pleading was futile.

Once the group was taken away, the villagers dispersed, finding no more excitement to witness.

Li Zhuang stayed behind, looking at Murong Lingran's guests, hesitating to speak.

Murong Lingran, aware that there was news about the matter she had entrusted to him a few days ago, had nothing to hide. She smiled and said, "Uncle Li Zhuang, just say it. It's not a problem for them to hear."

Seeing that she didn't mind, Li Zhuang went straight to the point, "A’Ran, a few days ago, when you mentioned wanting to buy some uncultivated land and that small barren mountain, I inquired at the government office. You can buy the uncultivated land in Lihua Village as you wish, but as for the small barren mountain, only half of it is available for purchase. The other half already has an owner. If you want to buy now, it's only possible to acquire the remaining half."

"The other half has an owner? Who is the owner?"

"The officials didn't dare to say, only mentioning that the owner of that half of the barren mountain is not someone an ordinary person can afford to provoke."

Murong Lingran frowned, but having half was better than none. She expressed her gratitude, "Let's find a time to purchase that half."

"Sure, whenever you're ready, I'll accompany you," Li Zhuang replied.

"Thank you, Uncle Li Zhuang."

After Li Zhuang left, Helian Rongjiu finally noticed the large black dog that had been following Murong Lingran. He asked in curiosity, "Is this your dog? When did you get it? I don't recall seeing it last time I visited."

"Yes, I encountered it in the mountains by chance. I felt a connection, so I decided to keep it."

The black furball, repeatedly referred to as a dog, had no intention of explaining. It could sense that this person was helping its owner, and it also recognized that he was not someone it could afford to provoke. So, wisely, it chose not to argue with him.
